Congratulations, Erin Fisher!
So,
Prism International just announced the winners of their fiction contest, which my friend Eliza Robertson won last year, and this year it's a UVic student again!
(My story didn't even get shortlisted. I'm going to take this opportunity to whine about that.)
Erin Frances Fisher won for her story "Bridges". It will be published in the next issue, so make sure to go pick it up.
I've never been in class with Erin, but I looked her up on Facebook and it turns out she's been in classes with some of my friends. She's totally hyped about the win.
(Her word for the feeling: "ebullient"...yeah, I had to look it up too...)
Meanwhile, Kris Bertin's story "Is Alive and Can Move", will be published in Prism as well. (Awesome title, dude.) On his blog he describes his story as "pretty-gross-and-definitely-depressing hobo-lit".
You can read his story "Girl on the Fire Escape" in the current issue of The Malahat Review. I love it.
I'm stoked that UVic is dominating all these contests. Congratulations again, Erin!
Will!!
