New fiction by Susan Sanford Blades
So,
I've been waiting for this story to come out for months, ever since Susan told me she got a piece published in Other Voices.
Actually, when she found out I already had a subscription to OV, a pseudo-feminist journal out of Edmonton that strives to publish "fringe" emerging authors, she made fun of me.
(I guess she didn't peg me as such an ardent feminist, but looks can be deceiving...)
Really, I just ordered a subscription as part of a "Buy 2, get 1 free" deal about a year ago. I like to know what's going on with Canadian literary journals.
Anyways, you can read the first two pages online HERE.
(I actually really like the OV website, and I think it's cool how literary journals are finally getting their shit online.)
It's pretty dramatic stuff, so I think I might walk down to Mac's Fireweed Books in downtown Whitehorse and see if they can convince them to order one in. Or maybe I'll just bug Spencer to bring one when he comes to visit in a few weeks. (HYPED!)
Anyways, I'm stoked for Susan. Like totally happy for her. So check out her story.
Will!!
