Day 100

So,

This day crept up on me.

I can't remember who started counting, but it was Gemma's idea to try to make it to 100 days of hanging out every single day. Last weekend we went almost an entire Sunday without seeing each other, but made sure to meet up for a high-five.

Yesterday marked our 100th day, as well as my Going-Away party. In one of those convenient coincidences, it also happened to be the day my roommate Gaye's daughter Akira showed up for a visit.

Living with Gaye this summer has been amazing. She's been my pseudo-Mom and spoiled me rotten, buying me groceries and knocking on my door to wake up every morning.

When I grow up, I'd like to have a household like Gaye. She's always welcoming people into her house, and it has a real communal feel. She gets along well with all my friends and has some awesome stories. Not to mention she's a shaman.

(I can now check "live with a shaman in the Yukon" off my bucket list.)

At some point in the night, possibly around Beer 8, I decided to bust out my camera and take some photos. Check them out below.

Apparently Gemma videotaped me singing "Semi-Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind (my favorite) at Karaoke later on in the night, so that might make an appearance on this blog at some point...

Tomorrow I head up to Dawson City to be a bum for a while. I'm going to walk around in my bare feet, write in my journal and take some time to reflect before heading down South. I'm looking forward to it.

Will!!

  1. An absolute pleasure to celebrate my coming home to the Yukon, Will! I was sad to have to say goodbye so soon after meeting you but know we'll meet again. You and your friends are awesome and I had a really great time hanging out. Though, just let me say, if that "Baby Got Back" video sees the light of day, I may have to kill you.

    Love,
    Akira
