I always get excited for December's movie season.
It's when they roll out all the Academy Award bait, and after the dry months of October and November we finally get some decent movies to watch.
I'm going to try to see as many as I can, so I can compile my annual Top 10 list. And tonight, I watched a strong contender for #1.
That's right. The Muppets.
Honestly, I dare you to watch it and NOT stumble out completely drunk on happiness and nostalgia.
When Darby gets to town I'm definitely going to take her, and I wouldn't rule out seeing it again in theatres.
Yes, it's that good.
"Really?" you might say. "Really, Will? The movie with talking puppets is that good?"
And I'll say "Yes."
Jason Segel was the perfect choice to bring the Muppets back to the big screen. The musical numbers were written by Bret from Flight of the Conchords. It has an onslaught of celebrity cameos, a hilarious (and very meta) script and yeah, just a whole lot of sincerity and happiness.
I honestly don't believe it could have been better.

Last night I watched J. Edgar with my friend Todd, and though it tried its best, I don't think it will land in the Top 10.
(Man, Leonardo really wants that Oscar...)
It's an interesting, competent movie. But it didn't wow me. And Leonardo kind of looks like a giant condom with the old-age makeup.
List of movies I need to see before I complete my list: Young Adult, Shame, The Iron Lady, Carnage, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Also, I can't forget: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
(I'm currently trying to finish the John Le Carre book in time.)
Have I missed any obvious choices? Let me know.
So far this year, the movies that have made the cut are: Blue Valentine, Barney's Version and Martha Marcy May Marlene.
Anyways, the main gist of this post was to convince my readers to get reacquainted with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzy and the crowd.
You're welcome.
Will!!
