Our Haunted Tree
So,
I haven't been on the Internet much lately, and I feel pretty good about that.
A few days ago I chopped down a haunted tree in our yard. Lynn said it was spooky, so I got rid of it. And today I broke it into little pieces and burned it in our yard. I think setting things on fire may be one of my new favorite things.
If you're wondering why there's an organ in our yard: Lynn found it in a shed and decided it looked kind of cool there. Presumably it's from the old church.
You can also see Darby's garden, enclosed with chicken wire. She's growing a bunch of plants I've never heard of.
The slug problem has been mostly solved, but now we have a new one. The other day I saw a fox wander into our yard, slurp up Darby's slug genocide, and then saunter out.
We've both been working most days at The Ovens. The kitchen opens soon, so Darby will be cooking. Meanwhile, I have to wrangle drunk campers, bundle firewood and load enormous bags of garbage into a truck.
I'm building character, right?
In other news, I've lost 25 pounds. And I just reached 36,000 words with my Sea to Sky manuscript. It will be complete by August. Mark my words.
I'm currently reading the Game of Thrones books, and I just started Shake Hands with the Devil by Romeo Dallaire. I've been watching a lot less TV, which is probably an improvement.
Darby is going to Portland for the weekend, and while she's gone Lynn and I are finally going to visit Halifax. (Though we're mostly running errands, like going to Costco.) Today she bought me a lobster sandwich and a giant pickle. It was awesome.
That's it for now.
Will!!
