I went to Alaska to see the ocean

So,

I took the above photo in Skagway, Alaska last summer. The lovely woman you see there is my friend Gemma Karstens-Smith, who incidentally started her own blog recently.

You can check it out HERE.

Gemma and I road-tripped to Alaska a few times while we were working at The Whitehorse Star. It's a tourist town, rich with history, that basically exists to serve the cruise ships that show up periodically.

The best thing about the whole place is the Thai food.

Anyways, I wrote a flash-fiction piece called "Goon" about Skagway, and now it's getting published in Echolocation.

The only change? They want to ditch the title and go with the first line of the piece: "I went to Alaska to see the ocean".

I think it's a pretty solid edit.

I'd actually never heard of Echolocation before this year, but they're a journal out of Toronto, and you can follow them on Twitter @echolocationmag You can also check out their website HERE. I'll keep everyone posted on the publication date, so you can read the story when it comes out.

That's it for now.

Will!!
